Re: Octroide in duodeno-cutaneous fistula

I have had three patients, all of them operated elsewhere for perforation of the duodenal ulcer and postoperative biliary leak through the drain site. These patients were actually referred to me for gastrectomy, but I had found dramatic response with octreotide! One of them was a high output fistula and all three were of duration ranging from 10 days to one month. I am convinced of the role of this somatostatin derivative, though my experience is limited to upper gastrointestinal fistulae, in with Octreoitide.
